MIA Awards for Excellence in Migration
The MIA Awards for Excellence in Migration aims to acknowledge and celebrate excellence within the field.
There are currently a total of four awards that comprise the 2026 MIA Awards for Excellence in Migration. The awards recognise up-and-coming migration professionals in addition to leaders across education, engagement, service, and contributions to the profession.
Nominations are now open. Winners and those who are recommended to the Board will be given advance notice for purposes of the Awards ceremony. These prestigious awards are presented annually at the Gala Dinner & Awards Night held at the National Migration Conference.

Why should you nominate?
Receiving an award provides valuable recognition from peers, which can play an important factor in your professional and commercial success.
What is the timeline?
Nominations are now open and close Sunday, 19 July. Successful nominations are recommended to the Board, and winners will be given advance notice for purposes of the Awards ceremony on Thursday, 1 October 2026.
What categories are open for nomination?
There are four categories of Awards:
- Educator of the Year Award
- Distinguished Service Award
- Emerging Talent Award
- MIA Community Leadership Award
In the event that no nominations in a category meet the required standard, no Award will be granted in that category.

Winners of the awards will each receive:
