State Branches and Chapters

Branch Committee positions are elected are in accordance with the MIA Constitution, which specifies: two Commercial Members; one Commercial Organisation Member; one Non-commercial Member; and one Legal Practising Certificate Holding member. New Committees elect officer bearers, including Vice Presidents and Secretaries, and may induct Members to fill any vacant positions and a Student Member position.

The Committees help ensure effective and appropriate communication on behalf of the membership with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) and government bodies, as well as promoting the Institute's vision and objectives, supporting the membership generally, hosting Member events and other ad hoc duties.
