MIA Members Session and Q&A

Presenters: Emily Winch (Senior Director OMARA). Nicholas Poynder (Barrister, Rosny Chambers) & Peter van Vliet (MIA CEO)

MIA members are invited to join this timely member session on ethics, compliance and professional practice in migration advice.

Many practitioners will have noticed increased activity by the OMARA in recent months. This coincides with the introduction of the new RMA legislative instruments in April 2026 and OMARA’s expanded monitoring and compliance capabilities.

Emily Winch (Senior Director, OMARA) will provide an update on the ethical obligations under the new instruments and discuss the key issues OMARA is seeking to address in order to protect consumers and support high standards across the profession.

Nicolas Poynder (Barrister, Rosny Chambers) represents both RMAs and legal practitioners in complaint matters and will provide practical guidance on what to do when a complaint is received, how to respond appropriately and when formal representation should be sought.

The session will be moderated by Peter van Vliet (MIA CEO) and will include an opportunity for member questions and discussion.

This session will assist practitioners to better understand the practical impact of OMARA’s current compliance focus and the steps they can take to maintain ethical and professional practice.

Don’t miss this chance to stay informed, ask your questions, and connect with colleagues in the migration profession.
