DAMA frameworks and concepts – 2026 and beyond
DAMAs play a critical role in addressing regional Australia’s unique skills shortages, but the landscape is shifting from a focus on regional DAMAs to one of ‘state-led’ DAMAs. In this session you will learn what this means for you and your clients, hone your skills on DAMA concepts and frameworks generally, and explore some of the common mistakes made when seeking to access a DAMA.
Your presenter is Geoff Heath, who has been managing the FNQ DAMA for seven years for the Cairns Chamber of Commerce in its role as Designated Area Representative (DAR). Geoff also advises and mentors some other regional DARs in respect of their DAMAs. He is a 26-year Home Affairs veteran with five overseas postings who has deep insights into migration matters generally. With more than thirty years assessing the work of migration agents, he can also shed light on what makes good agents stand out in the eyes of Department decision-makers.
